TIM continues its leadership in the Italian mobile market by delivering the strongest overall speed and quality across all performance measurements. Our latest report reveals that TIM ranked 9.8 Mbps across both 3G and 4G. That said Vodafone wasn’t far behind with an average of 8.0 Mbps.

When looking at 3G, only the results were much closer, with all four mobile operators delivering similar speed results with average download speeds ranging from 4.2 to 4.7 Mbps.
The results were taken from over 42 million network quality tests (over 40 billion unique measurements) that we took between September 1 and November 30, 2017.
About our testing
Tutela tests mobile networks by crowdsourcing anonymous sensor data from hundreds of millions of Android and iOS mobile users across the world. Our testing methodology is designed to simulate typical user mobile behaviour, such as downloading a photograph or web page, rather than measuring the maximum performance, such as the peak download speed during a very large file transfer (which very few users will achieve) so that we can understand a typical user's experience.
