Throughout Guatemala, Tigo have the fastest latency results ahead of Claro and Movistar. Tigo’s parent company Millicom have seen strong year on year growth after their successful business transformation and data infrastructure investment across Latin America, clearly resulting in improved performance for the network and resulting in a reported net profit of $87 million in Q1 this year.
Movistar demonstrate fastest download speeds
Together with leading our download speed tests in Spain, Movistar also take the top spot in Guatemala. Claro on the other hand replicate their results in Argentina, taking third place behind Tigo, with less than half the average download speeds of Movistar, despite their top performance across Brazil.
Network stability is a challenge for all
Even though Movistar perform well with the lowest overall jitter, they rank highest for packet loss. Claro and Tigo on the other hand, both perform well for packet loss but score highly for average jitter, both key indicators of network stability.
Our findings for Guatemala are based on 1.5 billion network quality measurements including 242 thousand speed tests between January and March 2018. Our latest complimentary Mobile Experience Report is available to download from the Tutela Insights portal.
