In the latest Mobile Experience Snapshot for Mexico, Telcel was the leader in three out of the five metrics tested, including highest Excellent Consistent Quality and speed test results. While Movistar took the award for the highest Core Consistent Quality, AT&T stood out as the operator with the most responsive network in the country.

Telcel had highest Excellent Consistent Quality

In Common Coverage Areas across Mexico, Telcel achieved the highest Excellent Consistent Quality with 62.7% of subscribers having a network experience suitable for use-cases like 1080p video streaming, real-time mobile gaming or HD video calling. Movistar was in second place with an Excellent Consistent Quality of 56.6%, lagging behind Telcel by about six percent. AT&T was in third place at 51.7%, lagging behind first place Telcel by 11%.

In regards to Core Consistent Quality, Tutela’s metric for measuring a network experience suitable for less demanding  use-cases like SD video streaming, social media sharing and web browsing, none of the operators reached the 90% threshold. Movistar outperformed Telcel with a Core Consistent Quality of 80.3%, while Telcel stood at 75.7% closely followed by AT&T at 73.5%.

Telcel had fastest median download and upload speed

Telcel had the fastest download speed in Common Coverage Areas across Mexico with a median download speed of 18.0 Mbps, 3.8 Mbps faster than Movistar and 6.1 Mbps faster than last place AT&T. Telcel also had the fastest median upload speed of 8.7 Mbps, followed by AT&T with an upload speed of 7.9 Mbps and Movistar in last place with a speed of 5.6 Mbps.

AT&T had the best latency result in Common Coverage Areas across Mexico

AT&T won the award for the most responsive network with a median one-way latency of 27.2 ms followed by Telcel with a median latency of 35.6 ms. Movistar placed last with a median one-way latency of 38.9 ms, over 11 ms slower than first place AT&T.
