In the latest Mobile Experience Report for Guatemala, Movistar had the highest Excellent Consistent Quality percentage in the country, as well as the fastest median download and upload speed. However, the operator narrowly lost out in the latency test, as Tigo had the best one-way latency result on a 4G network.
Movistar tops Excellent Consistent Quality
In Common Coverage Areas across Guatemala, Movistar had the highest Excellent Consistent Quality with 74.7% of tests good enough for applications like HD video calling, movie streaming, or mobile gaming. Claro was in second place for an Excellent Consistent Quality of 72.4%, only 2.3% behind Movistar. Tigo placed third with an Excellent Consistent Quality of 64.8%, 9.9% behind first place Movistar.
For Core Consistent Quality, all three operators reached the 90% threshold, with Claro narrowly taking out first place for a Core Consistent Quality of 91.9%, followed by Movistar at 91.3%, and Tigo in third for 90.2%, only 1.7% behind Claro.
Movistar had the fastest download and upload speed
In the speed test, Movistar had the fastest median download speed in Common Coverage Areas across Guatemala, with 14.4 Mbps. With only 1.2 Mbps separating the two, Claro was in second place with a median download speed of 13.2 Mbps. Tigo was well behind the other two operators with a median download speed of 8.5 Mbps, 5.9 Mbps slower than first place Movistar.
Movistar also had the fastest median upload speed in Guatemala with 9.2 Mbps, followed closely by Claro at 8.0 Mbps, and Tigo in third with 6.6 Mbps.
Tigo leads latency on 4G network
Despite its last place rankings in the other metrics tested, Tigo took out the top spot with the best median one-way latency result on a 4G network with 37.4 ms. However, both Claro and Movistar were close behind with a latency result of 38.7 ms and 38.8 ms, respectively
