With strong success also in Guatemala, Tigo came out on top of our download speed tests between March and May 2018, with average speeds of 6.54Mbps, closely followed by Movistar and then Claro. Movistar has invested more than $500 billion in the last two years for the development of its network infrastructure, deploying 4.5G in 129 municipalities of Colombia which it says enables customers to reach browsing speeds of up to 250Mbps.

Movistar edge ahead in upload speed

With average upload speeds on 4G of 5.51Mbps, Movistar inch ahead of Claro to take the top spot in our latest upload speed chart for Colombia.

Movistar recently announced more than one million customers are now enjoying calls with High Definition sound through their 4G LTE network, claiming to be one of the first mobile operators in Latin America to expand this service and increasing connectivity within the region.

Claro lead network stability

With low average jitter and packet loss results, Claro come out on top for network stability. America Movil, parent company of Claro, have recently announced plans to extend the Claro footprint into the US, primarily focus on enterprise solutions of businesses - but we could see this expand in the future to provide telecommunication services for consumers also.

Similar to our last quarter findings, Tigo are still suffering from high jitter on 4G and 3G.
