Across the country, Tigo demonstrated the best excellent consistent quality, representative of use-cases such as streaming HD video, with a percentage score of 48.0%. All operators recorded similar download and upload speeds, with Avantel inching ahead to take the lead as Claro perform best for network stability on 4G.

Tigo lead “excellent” consistent quality across Colombia

With an excellent consistent quality score of 48.0%, Tigo performed best across the country for use-cases such as streaming HD video or making reliable group video calls. Claro ranked in second place, based on crowdsourced data collected between March and May, with an excellent consistent quality score of 43.0% and equal Tigo for “basic” consistent quality, suitable for performing tasks like browsing web pages, internet messaging and social networking. Avantel inch ahead for average speeds

Across both 4G and 3G, Avantel performed best for the fastest average download and upload speeds, averaging 9.07 Mbps and 4.55 Mbps respectively. All operators averaged within approximately 0.5 Mbps of each other, with Tigo placing second, Claro third and Movistar fourth across the country. On 4G only, Tigo averaged the fastest speeds of 11.98 Mbps nationwide and reached 16.51 Mbps in Valle del Cauca.

Claro performed best for network stability

With the lowest average results for packet loss and jitter, Claro demonstrated the best overall network stability on 4G. Tigo also performed well, with equally low packet loss, but suffered from relatively high jitter in comparison to Claro. Avantel showed improved jitter in Valle del Cauca, although its average packet loss remained around 3% regionally as well as nationally.
