Across Belgium, Proximus demonstrated the highest “excellent” consistent quality and average download and upload speeds, followed by BASE and Orange. Despite ranking third for download speeds nationwide, Orange managed to meet Tutela’s excellent consistent quality threshold 85.6% of the time, performing well for both latency and network stability across the country.
Proximus perform best for excellent consistent quality
With a percentage score of 89.7% across the country, Proximus lead Tutela’s latest rankings for excellent consistent quality, representative of use-cases such as streaming HD video or making reliable group video calls. Orange and BASE aren’t too far behind, both sitting in the 80% - 90% bracket, scoring 85.6% and 81.7% respectively, with only a minor notable difference between BASE and the other two operators for “basic” consistent quality, suitable for performing tasks like browsing web pages, internet messaging and social networking. Proximus also lead average speeds
Averaging 25.04 Mbps and 11.63 Mbps across both 4G and 3G, Proximus also lead download and upload speeds nationwide. Proximus’s average download speed just on 4G reached 27.44 Mbps across the country, and 30.16 Mbps in Brussels, where it averaged 5.21 Mbps above second place BASE at 24.95 Mbps. BASE did manage to inch ahead of Proximus in Hainaut, where it averaged 24.77 Mbps compared with 24.24 Mbps for Proximus.
Orange top latency
Based on Tutela’s crowdsourced data collected between March and May, Orange performed best for latency on 4G, averaging 17.8 ms across the country. Proximus and BASE ranked second and third respectively, with average delays of 20.2 ms and 23.2 ms. Orange also showed improved latency in Liege and Hainaut, where its average 4G delay dropped to 16.1 ms and 16.4 ms.
