In the latest Mobile Experience Snapshot for Australia, Vodafone and Telstra statistically tied for first place for highest Excellent Consistent Quality, while Vodafone had the highest Core Consistent Quality. Vodafone also had the fastest upload speeds and best one-way latency result, while Telstra had fastest download speeds.
Vodafone and Telstra lead Excellent Consistent Quality
In Common Coverage Areas across Australia, Vodafone and Telstra statistically tied for first place with the highest Excellent Consistent Quality, over 83% of connections having a network experience suitable for use-cases like 1080p video streaming, real-time mobile gaming or HD video calling. Optus was in third place with an Excellent Consistent Quality of 80.3%.
In regards to Core Consistent Quality, Tutela’s metric for when a connection is good enough for web browsing, social media sharing and SD video streaming, all three operators reached the 90% threshold, with Vodafone narrowly out in front with a Core Consistent Quality of 93.1%.
Telstra leads median download speeds, Vodafone for uploads
Telstra had the fastest median download speeds in Common Coverage Areas across Australia with 29.4 Mbps. Optus was in second place with 27.9 Mbps, only 1.5 Mbps slower than Telstra. Vodafone was in third place with 24.4 Mbps, 5 Mbps slower than Telstra.
Vodafone had the fastest median upload speeds in Common Coverage Areas across Australia with 14.6 Mbps. Telstra was in second place with median speeds of 12.8 Mbps, followed by Optus at 10.5 Mbps.
Vodafone had best latency result
Vodafone narrowly managed to have the most responsive network in Common Coverage Areas across Australia with a one-way latency result of 13.5 ms, with both Optus and Telstra less than 2 ms behind Vodafone.
